Port Fairy Folk Festival 2007
The Port Fairy Folk Festival is held in Australia every March. Port Fairy is a small town, located about 4 hours west of Melbourne. The Port Fairy Folk Festival is one of Australia's biggest music festivals. My band "The Lawnmowers" played there.
At the festival, most of the music performances take place in large tents. Some of these tents can fit more than 1000 people.

The Lawnmowers were kept busy at this festival. Normally there are five of us, however, for this festival, we had two extra players, Lucy Langham on flute and Tania Elizabeth on violin.

We played on some big stages at the festival. In this picture, with myself, Lucy and Rob, we are playing at the "Sheebeen Bar", with about 1500 people in the crowd

In addition to concerts, the festival also had workshops. This picture shows Chris Wilson and Jim Conway, two of Australia's best known players, presenting a harmonica workshop.

As well as the musicians, many instrument makers come to folk festivals. There is a special tent where they all display their instruments. This tent was popular .

Outside the festival performance area, there are many things happening in the town. Here is the main street of Port Fairy, which turns into a market during the festival.

Some musicians at the festival played on the streets of Port Fairy. This picture shows a band from Bolivia.

On the way to the festival, we stopped for a night in Melbourne, and played at the Lomond Hotel, a small venue near the centre of the city. Below is a video of us at the Lomond Hotel, playing a tune called Midnight Shift.
